Permanent Makeup Pre & After care

Permanent Makeup Pre-care

General pre-procedure advise for semi permanent makeup procedures:

  • No Accutane (acne medicine) for 1 year before the procedure.
  • No vitamin A/Retinol products for 1 month before the treatment.
  • No Botox or lip fillers for 1 month before the treatment.
  • No tanning or using artificial tanning products for at least 2 weeks.
  • No facials/peels for at least 2 weeks before the treatment.
  • No brow wax or tint one week before the treatment.
  • No vitamin E or Fish Oil one week before the procedure. These thin the blood and may cause bleeding, swelling and poor pigment retention.
  • No alcohol and caffeine 24-48 hours before the treatment. These thin the blood and may cause bleeding, swelling and poor pigment retention.
  • No painkillers such as ibuprofen or aspirin 24-48 hours before the treatment. These medicines thin the blood and may cause bleeding, swelling and poor pigment retention (always consult with your GP before stopping taking any prescribed medicines).
  • No exercise on the day of the treatment.
  • Please aim to shower and wash your hair on the day of the procedure, as doing so soon after the treatment poses the risk of getting the area treated wet which may slow down the healing and result in poor pigment retention.

Permanent Makeup After-Care

General post-procedure advise for semi permanent makeup procedures:

Blot the area with a clean tissue every 5 minutes for the first hour after treatment. Every 2 hours for the first 24 hours after treatment, wipe your treatment area with cooled boiled water on a cotton wool pad then pat them dry with a clean tissue.

For 2 to 7 days after treatment, the procedure area may experience the following symptoms:

  • Flaking
  • Tenderness
  • Dryness and itching
  • Swelling
  • Redness

FOR ONE WEEK FOLLOWING TREATMENT -

  • Apply a rice grain sized amount of after tattoo cream provided, once or twice a day using a cotton bud. Please be sure not to over apply as this can suffocate your skin and delay healing.
  • Do not get the treated area wet in the shower/bath/swimming pool etc.
  • No make up on or near the treated area.
  • No face creams/moisturisers on the treated area.
  • No heavy exercise, saunas, sun beds and keep the treated area out of the sun.
  • Do not touch, pick, scratch or rub the treated area or the colour will heal unevenly or cause scarring of infection.
  • Use a clean pillowcase and do not sleep on your face.
  • Limit hot showers and baths to avoid too much steam getting to the the treated area.
  • Keep your hair away from the treated area. (If you have a fringe then clip it back out of your face).

Treat your permanent make up as you would an unhealed wound for around 2 weeks for best healing results, you wouldn't put foundation on a cut knee!
